Joy Street

Joy Street is the reincarnation of the award-winning Valse Café Orchestra, upgraded with a new, expanded repertoire. Because of its instrumentation, Joy Street can deliver big-band swing in one moment and a classy waltz the next—the reason dancers can enjoy so many different styles of dance in the same evening, from the same band.

Joy Street’s bringing its 8-piece band, featuring special guest artist Jesse Hagopian and his blues harmonica. People loved him at the Live-Music Blues Workshop.

Expect Serious Variety: Swing, Blues, Latin, Country Two Step R & B, Waltzes of all tempos, from Cross-Step to Rotary. Even an Elvis cover.

Also featuring guitarist/vocalist Rockin’ Rafe Wadleigh and Songbird Lucia Neare.

If you’ve never attended the Joy Street’s Masquerade in January, Saturday’s dance will give you a small taste of the Masquerade’s music.

A mini-intro to Cross-step Waltz

Lilli Ann Carey and Leah Fast will cover Crossing figures perfect for slower waltz tunes. You’ll love how a few basic steps can be altered in easy ways to make several different moves. Be on time for this workshop to learn some key underlying concepts to these moves they’ll cover at the start.

Like to get warmed up before the dance?  Learn a couple of extra moves?  New to dance and want to meet a few people?  Then come join us for the free pre-dance lesson!  Our instructors will get your dance motor running and your confidence up.  Starts at 7pm.
