A Weekend of Waltz & More

We’re thrilled to welcome back the legendary Richard Powers, for his 21st NW Dance weekend workshop! Since launching this series in 2000, Richard has inspired dancers with his creativity, deep knowledge, and infectious love of dance. After a seven-year hiatus (our last workshop with him was pre-pandemic!), he’s bringing a wealth of new material to share.

• Over the weekend, you’ll explore:
• Several beautiful waltz styles, including rotary and cross-step
• How to effortlessly transition between different waltz forms
• Techniques for dancing to very fast waltz music
• Plus a few surprises!
• A partnered tango line dance
• Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Disco Hustle
• And more delightful moves to keep you inspired

Saturday, June 7, 2025

• 9:30 AM:  Registration and warm-up
• 10:00 AM:  Workshop
• Lunch:  Pizza and salad, with a lunchtime talk by Richard, “Dance Wisdom from Young Minds.”
• 3:30 PM:  Adjourn

Saturday evening dance with Joy Street Orchestra

• 7:00 PM Pre-dance lesson with Richard and Angela
• 8:00 PM Live music begins, with Richard DJ’ing the band breaks
